The materials provider Bayer MaterialScience (BMS) and the Swiss logistics management company 4PL Central Station (4PLCS) successfully started the operational and strategic cooperation for the transportation management of Isocyanates on 1st April this year.
Subject of this new business relationship is the operational management as well as the strategic optimization of all bulk-transports organised within this business division. In addition to the transportation planning, the optimisation of the transportation service provider portfolio and the freight cost accounting through a credit note system, 4PLCS also implemented an electronic processing platform in time for business start, to which all involved LSP´s are connected without fault.
4PL Central Station is conceptually supported by the Chemical Competence Alliance (CCA). Founder members of the CCA and service providers of 4PLCS within the scope of the BMS-transports are the companies DB Schenker BTT, Alfred TALKE und VOTG Tanktainer. The goal of this alliance is the establishment of new bulk supply chain concepts with the focus to increase the capacity utilisation of today’s independent tank container fleets and to minimise empty kilometres for the positioning and re-positioning of tank containers. The CCA is open for all interested logistics companies involved in the chemical branch. Long-term strategy of the developed concepts is a benefit for all market participants.
“Bayer MaterialScience decided deliberately to go for this new approach in the chemical industry, as further optimizations and securing of the supply of special equipment are only feasible through collaborative approaches. We believe to have found a setup with the professional and neutral approach of 4PL Central Station and the industry network CCA, with which we can realize our vision.” said Frank Andreesen, Bayer MaterialScience, Vice President – Logistics EMEA.
